Zachary’s parents started the new year with the words no parents want to hear, namely, “your child has cancer.” Zachary was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in early January, 2017.
Following the diagnosis, he has been treated within the standard treatment protocol which evolved from years of research. Hospital stays with chemotherapy have transitioned to the protocol’s “maintenance” period with oral chemotherapy at home and monthly visits to the MACC Fund Center at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin where Zachary is treated by a Medical College of Wisconsin physician. The first grader at Donges Bay School in Mequon enjoys playing with his younger brother and spending time with his family. He likes reading, science and nature. He also likes art which helped him as the designer of the 2017 TODAY’S TMJ4 MACC*Star. He likes soccer and golf and the Bucks are his favorite team with Giannis as his favorite player. He even got to present the game ball for the Bucks MACC Fund Game this year.
