Ryan is 11 and in 5th grade. He was diagnosed in June with a type of cancer called Burkitt Lymphoma. His summer started with stomach pain and feeling lethargic and a biopsy of fluid in his lungs led to the diagnosis of Stage 3 Burkitt Lymphoma.
Weeks in the hospital including dialysis followed including a week in the Intensive Care Unit. He celebrated his birthday in the hospital. He also had significant side effects from the chemotherapy but thankfully has responded well to treatment. The oldest of four children, Ryan’s favorite subject is math and he enjoys sports and video games. The Packers are his favorite team with Aaron Rodgers as his favorite player. His mom called the care team in the MACC Fund Center of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin led by Medical College of Wisconsin physicians as “wonderful.”
