Olivia is 10 and is a 5th grader at Oostburg Elementary School. She has a younger sister, Brynnly. Olivia was followed for several years by the Immunology Department at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
She was ultimately diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). After genetic testing, her Medical College of Wisconsin Physicians found a GATA2 deficiency which could lead to Acute Myelogenous Leukemia so Olivia underwent a bone marrow transplant to avoid that. Now 18 months after transplant, she is doing very well. Her mom noted that “we were very fortunate that the doctors were on top of it and had the technology to deal with it.” She further noted that “we can’t believe the things they do which are amazing. We are so fortunate to have Children’s and the MACC Fund Center close by.” Her favorite subject is Reading. She likes sports, especially basketball and also enjoys crafting. Aaron Rodgers is her favorite Packer player.
