Lulu is 10 and is in 4th grade at Stormonth Elementary School in Bayside. She was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Nov 2011 on her 5th birthday.
She is under the care of Physicians from the Medical College of Wisconsin. Lulu faced many complications including a burst appendix, as well as going into Anaphylactic Shock due to an allergic reaction to an IV medication. She has endured multiple procedures and surgeries in addition to 2.5 years of Chemotherapy. Her perpetual smile and attitude has carried her through, along with the loving care of her parents and big brother Mason who celebrated his birthday last year by raising money for the MACC Fund to help his sister and other kids.
Lulu loves everything to do with school which she simply describes as “awesome” every day. If there’s a party or event to take part in, she’s the first one there and the last one to leave and isn’t satisfied until she has done everything there is to do. That’s how she approaches life. She maximizes everyday and every experience to get the most out of every second. She’s also a creative force of nature with a larger than life imagination. She enjoys painting, drawing, building, designing, inventing as well as acting, gymnastics, baking and tree climbing and giving her Daddy gray hair and her mother endless giggles.
In addition to her incredible mental strength, she is remarkably physically strong and can climb the rope 20 feet to the ceiling in gymnastics class . . . without using her legs — and there doesn’t seem to be a boy in the entire 4th grade that can beat her in arm wrestling. The Packers are her favorite team and Aaron Rodgers is her favorite player. Her grateful parents raved about the loving care Lulu received in the MACC Fund Center at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
